For more than 400 years, İzmir’s Jewish community built a rich and vibrant life. The old Jewish quarter was filled with the sounds of Ladino, the scent of borekas, and the rhythm of daily life around the synagogues, schools, hospital, kosher shops, and a winery.
Today, the buildings of the last Jewish school and hospital, the synagogues, cemeteries, and narrow streets hold the memory of generations who lived, prayed, and built their lives here. This heritage is still alive, waiting to be seen, remembered, and passed on.
