The origins of the Hevra Synagogue trace back to Rabbi Joseph Escapa in the 17th century. The building endured multiple fires, including in 1838 and 1841. It features central-plan architecture with a Tevah, triple Ehal, and Midrash.
The roof collapsed in 1999, prompting a major rescue effort that was completed in 2020. Restoration work is currently underway to preserve this significant heritage site for future generations.
